Shazzy What?

Wanna know where the name Shazzy came from?

It's an interesting story - I'm still not sure I totally understand it myself.

It began with me asking my friends, for months and months, what they thought of seemingly hundreds of names. No, it wasn't that much actually, but it sure felt like it.  I knew I wanted something kinda catchy, a little different, a little intriguing and most of all - something that was true to our faith.

It was during this time of course that internally I was still very much struggling with this whole entrepreneur thing and why in the world was God leading me down this path. It just made absolutely no sense to me and was really quite disturbing for many months. Really.

Anyway I started reading the Bible, probably more than I'd ever had - thinking that the solution to my name problem (and other problems) was in there, somewhere. Imagine that? :)

For some reason, I kept coming back to the book of Daniel. Is it just me or is Daniel not the best book to get inspiration for faith and obedience?

I came across Daniel 1:7 and it says that Daniel's Babylonian name was Belteshazzar, and I thought geesh - that's a really, really long name. If Daniel was alive today, I'm sure he and I would be friends but there's no way I could call him by that name. As a matter of fact, if he were here working with us on this project now we'd have to come up with a nickname, like a rap name for him LOL!

I think we'd call him "Shazzy".

And there it was.
