Take Your Spiritual Vitamins!

spiritual vitaminsI want to share with you some of what I call my "Spiritual Vitamins". Spiritual Vitamins are scriptures from God's Word that help me start my day and give me strength to accomplish my goals, assignments, and challenges for the day. We never know what's around the corner, down the street, or what will pop up on social media to try to rock us. God's Word empowers us, energizes us, equips us and encourages us for whatever. Maybe it's to start a new path, to speak up and ask for what you want, be a voice for injustice, to take a test, admit you were wrong, to forgive, or to give courage to end a situation. Most of all my Spiritual vitamins remind me to focus on the Lord first…always and all the time!

In this blog, I've included one week's worth of verses all from I Corinthians 13 that deal with love. Love is our greatest need and resource of power to make it in a world that is selfish, divisive and unlovable. Hold love dear and don't allow Satan or anyone else to diminish its strength and your capacity to give and receive it.

I Corinthians on loveSunday — I Corinthians 13:1, "Though I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a noisy bell or clanging cymbal." Let your words have the weight of your heart behind them. Let wisdom be the "send-off" area your words go through before they reach a hearer's ears. Ask God to guard your lips so that He gets to screen what we say first.

Monday — I Corinthians 13:4, "Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag and it is not proud." Love is gentle and secure, not abrasive or envious.

Tuesday — I Corinthians 13:5, "Love is not rude, it's not selfish, and it is not easily angered. Love does not keep a list of wrongs." We are to treat others as we would like to be treated and forgive. It's so confining to keep our minds imprisoned with the past. Do not allow anyone or anything keep you hostage to hurt, pain, anger or unforgiveness. It renders you incapable of living in the present and appreciating what God has for you now.

Wednesday — I Corinthians 13:6 "Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the Truth." Don't feel glad or vindicated at another's bad fortune, even if it is your enemy. Pray for them. Second, no matter what, the Truth will always set you free.

Thursday — I Corinthians 13:7, "Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." Protecting with love includes confidentiality and trust of others' hearts. Love, even in the harshest of times, looks for God to open the door of reconciliation.

Friday — I Corinthians 13:8, "Love never fails or ends." Love is stronger than anything because GOD is LOVE! I have learned to trust Him with all of my heart, (even when it's been broken). I trust my Father with everything. I ask Him to supply what I need to complete, to fulfill, to achieve…He has and He will. With God nothing is unreachable or impossible!

Saturday — I Corinthians 13:11, "When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child." When I became a man, I stopped those childish things." It's time for us to grow up in our faith, to live fortified and confident in the assurance of God's Word and its promises. It's time to put aside foolish, harmful, divisive conversation that lead to destruction and poor relationships. The manifestation of the aforementioned discussion will lead to cursing, gossip and criticism which are tools of Satan! Our mouths were created for edifying and praise!

It's time to ask for the mind of Christ, think with the wisdom of Christ and to become imitators of Christ. It's time to commit to what we love, do what we love with all we've got and to love others with the love that our Lord and Savior Jesus has poured into us all.

"Spiritual Vitamins," try one a day!

"Now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is LOVE," I Corinthians 13:13
