Here's some good news in hard times: it may be hard right now, but don't move. Everything within you may be screaming out, "I gotta go," but don't move. You may have decided, "I've got to get out of here," but stand firm. "If something doesn't change I may lose my mind or lose my life;" be still. Be still, trust, stand firm and have faith, because God is in control!
There may be storms of life that overwhelm you—you may be experiencing famine in your home, financial instability, unexpected debt, it seems there's never enough, and no one within your sphere of influence really cares. Or you may be in the center of a destructive fire: employment restructuring, draining and straining relationships, wayward children and more. Don't run, stand down until God says move. Keep praying. That's when and where trust will transform itself into hope and hope never disappoints.
Unfortunately, many will run to escape their problems and will run right into a greater mess. They leave the covering of our Father and are left to cope with handling life without the protection and provision of our Creator God. When we try to take matters into our own hands we face the danger of falling prey to man's rules, ways, customs, and authority. We take on the load of having to do things in our own power and strength. Arrogance and pride may rear its ugly head and we may assume over time we don't need God until the bottom falls out.
Disillusionment is thinking we can do it on our own, which leads to deceit when we think we no longer need our Father. Ultimately, Satan wants our minds, because our minds control our actions. At that point, Satan can lead us to destruction and dead ends.
When we wait on the Lord in faith we find ourselves in the place of undeserved privilege and peace. "We can rejoice when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they can help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character and character strengthens our hope and hope never disappoints!" Romans 5:2-5.
So don't give up, persevere, persist and stand still until the Lord says move, then give it all you've got! He will give you power to overcome defeat, to reach the summit of your dreams, to plow through your issues, circumstances and concerns.
This is His promise, "He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless…Those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not grow faint," Isaiah 40:29-31.
