My name is Andretta Bond. I am a Receptionist/Secretary for a school district in Pennsylvania and I have been with the district for 14 years. I love God, I love to teach, and I love to dance!
Most of my life I have spent teaching. I was not a school teacher, because I never earned a degree, but for ten years I was an Instructional Assistant and fortunately I was positioned in classrooms where I sometimes had the opportunity to teach in small groups. For many years I taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Women's Bible Study at Church. I do not have Man's credentials, but I have God's gift of teaching.
In 2013, at the age of 57, God started me on an incredible and unexpected journey. Without ever attending a Zumba class, I became a Licensed Zumba Instructor. With prayer for guidance, I began DanZing4life, LLC. with the theme: To dance is to move, where there is movement there is life. Based on Jesus' words in John 10:10 that "He came to give us life and life more abundantly," my focus is total wellness: spirit, soul and body. Shazzy Fitness fits so perfectly!
After getting licensed to teach Basic Zumba, I went on to get licensed to teach Aqua Zumba, Zumba Gold, Zumba Toning, Zumba Kids and Zumba Step. I taught Aqua Zumba for two years, I have taught Zumba Gold and Zumba Toning for the past 3 years. I also teach Walk 15 classes, which is an indoor walking program. During this time, I have also received my Group Exercise and Personal Training Certifications.
A woman who watched my Zumba classes at a church where I was teaching, but never participated, had "liked" Shazzy Fitness on Facebook. It caught my attention, so I looked it up. I knew that God intervened to get me here. My desire has been to be able to minister to the lost and to God's people through dance/fitness. I have used Gospel songs in my warm up, cool down and stretch in most of my classes. To be able to teach Shazzy Fitness is an answered prayer and testimony, that when we delight ourselves in the Lord, He will give us the desires of our heart. The decision to get certified seemed more like the next step rather than a decision.
God's word will not return to Him void but will accomplish what He sent it forth to do. I think my certification will change the lives of the people who attend the classes and events that I will be teaching by bringing peace, joy and wholeness through the message in the songs.
I think the Shazzy Fitness certification will help me to reach my goals of reaching more people with the Word of God through the music and fellowship in each class. I also believe it will open more doors that I am just waiting to walk through!
