When wounded you may feel that you can’t trust anyone. You may decide not to risk opening up again, taking a chance to try and repair a relationship that’s been damaged, or you may just decide, “I don’t need anyone." Sometimes locking yourself away in your home, putting on your most comfortable pajamas, making your favorite “I don’t care about the calorie count" foods, climbing into bed and shutting off phones and internet feels like heaven! You may say, Lord, it’s just You and me from now on. That sounds good and yes, we should seek God first for every decision, move or plan we make. God created man to be in communion and fellowship with Him.

But, God also made people to be in community with each other. For our emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being, God made us to be in relationship, enjoy fellowship and connection with one another. Christians are called to be in a Family of Faith, or Koinonia. Koinonia, is a Greek word for communion, sharing, joint participation or fellowship. We, the Body of Christ needs to have “Real Koinonia” to demonstrate to the world the beauty and joy of living and walking in victory with Christ and each other.

WE DO NEED EACH OTHER! God’s word teaches that we are to live in UNITY and to fellowship with one another in the Body of Christ. Psalm 133:1 says, “Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren (and sisters) to dwell together in unity." Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “Let us consider one another, in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together.” God knows no man or woman is an island…we need relationships. We need companions. We need conversation. We need community for encouragement and support. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (MSG) says, “It is better to have a partner than to go it alone. Share the work, share the wealth. And if one falls down, the other helps, but if there’s no one to help, tough…By yourself you’re unprotected. With a friend you can face the worst.”

Another reason WE NEED EACH OTHER is to come against our most diabolical enemy, Satan. Satan’s plan for Christians is to divide and conquer. However, our Father knows that unity builds strength needed to conquer Satan’s attacks. Satan will never win when the Believers are in lockstep with God and each other. Jesus says in Matthew 18:20, “Where two or three are gathered together in My Name, I am there in the midst of them.” There is supernatural power in the concerted voices of Saints praying together. Satan and His demons have to run in defeat, they cannot stand against united prayers that call forth the presence of Jesus!

We must choose to live and love on one accord, seeking each other’s good. God calls us to have one purpose in mind, sharing and giving Jesus’ love to ALL! If we do, then, those who spout evil, divisiveness and hatred will never have victory over us!” Take heart my Brothers and Sisters, when we take our Lord at His word, when we stand firmly together, we will be Victorious! We can’t do it alone, WE NEED EACH OTHER.
