The words lazy and mom are seldom seen next to each other. In fact, 'lazy mom' can be considered to be an oxymoron because there is no such thing as a lazy mom. The truth is most mothers can't afford to be lazy. From sunrise until the kids hit the bed moms are up and about. Endless cleaning, washing, picking, folding, cooking, working fills her day and often times night. So it comes as a shock, then a relief and then sheer joy that there is such a day called Lazy Mom's Day celebrated the first Friday in September.

Serendipity. While most of us would be happy just reading about this term and then moving on, Madeleine Kay went on to create a Serendipity Day, which is celebrated on August 18th. Kay defines serendipity as “the willingness to live your life as though everything is a miracle….with the belief at any moment, something wonderful is about to happen.” The purpose of the day is to give people an opportunity to live serendipitously, to be open to the endless possibilities and embrace them.

What do you want from life? Fame. Fortune. Finding the purpose of your life. Your list could be endless, but, the bottom line is we all want to just be happy. And on August 8th you can join the happiness bandwagon as it is Happiness Happens Day. The Secret Society of Happy People founded this day in 1999 with the sole purpose of encouraging people to think about what makes them happy and celebrate that feeling.
In the year 2000, the United States Department of Agriculture proclaimed that August 4th - August 10th would be National Farmers Market Week. Ever since, for that one week farmers markets all over this country host special events like cooking demos, live music etc. to join the celebration. Farmers market is an integral part of our life today. It is a space that links urban life to farm life. Consumers get direct access to food fresh off the farms, while farmers can sell their produce directly eliminating the middle man.

The moment you hear a beat you bust a move. Granted you may not ‘move like Jagger,’ but you continue anyway. That’s because you are hardwired to move. You have an instinctual response to rhythm and when you put movement and music together you create dance, which is truly an expression of your spirit. And on July 26th everyone has a reason to dance as it is National Dance Day (NDD).

Gastric bypass and Lap banding. Most of us know that these phrases refer to weight loss in some way. These are actually the most common weight loss surgeries performed today.
How did such words creep into our conversations? The answer to that lies in the most recent statistics published by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) that says more than one-third of adults, 34.9%, in America are obese.
I really can't believe the weekend is here. The entire week has been a bit of a whirlwind. Today is actually a very special day because we will be leading the first official Shazzy Fitness class at a church in Alpharetta, Georgia. Since releasing the video, people have been asking us, "Where can I take a class?".
Today's workout is the VICTORY workout. This workout contains one of the fan faves - a Bollywood inspired routine that is probably one of the most talked about routines on the DVD. It has a lot of repetition, which makes it fairly easy to learn - but the moves are deceivingly intense.

As many early mornings and late nights that we've spent planning, rehearsing, filming, creating ... well, you'd think we'd know everything about each other by now! Strangely enough, although we all agree that Team Shazzy is like family now, there are many times when we still find ourselves very much still getting to know each other. Last month, I had a chance to sit down and talk to Vera Rose about her decision to become a professional dancer and choreographer. We'd spoken about it a few months back, and I knew then that this was a message that needed to be shared.
